Planning staff presented Summertown Metals, an industrial planned unit development proposed on Enka Highway (160) just south of Interstate 81 exit 12. The project packages an office (7,150 sq ft) with an attached 37,500 sq ft manufacturing area, four lumber sheds at 5,200 sq ft each, and a 17,280 sq ft storage facility. "Per the plans provided to staff, this project consists of an office building (7,150 square feet) with an attached manufacturing facility (37,500 square feet), 4 lumber sheds (5,200 square feet each), and a storage facility (17,280 square feet)," the minutes record.
Secretary Roni Snyder moved to approve the PUD and Commissioner Alpha Alexander seconded. The commission voted 8–0 to approve the PUD. Staff noted the plan met zoning requirements and that approvals followed the PUD review process under the Morristown Zoning Ordinance.
