Commission backs text amendment adding salt‑tolerant trees to landscape ordinance

Examples listed in the minutes include Ash (Fraxinus), Black Cherry (Prunus), Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), Buckeyes (Aesculus), Hickories (Carya), and Eastern Redcedar (Juniperus virginiana).
Commissioner Alpha Alexander moved to forward the text amendment to City Council and Commissioner Ventrus Norfolk seconded. The commission recorded a unanimous vote of 9–0 and forwarded the amendment for council consideration.
