The Morristown Regional Planning Commission voted to approve a site plan for a new SRM Concrete ready‑mix terminal at the intersection of Maple Valley Road and Highway 160. Senior Planner Josh Cole told commissioners the property is within the Urban Growth Boundary and the developer proposes to use slightly more than 7 acres of a roughly 42‑acre parcel for the terminal and a 32‑by‑24 foot (768 sq ft) office building. Staff recommended approval because the parcel is zoned Hamblen County I‑1 (Industrial District) and the plan meets the county zoning ordinance.
Commissioner Ventrus Norfolk made the motion to approve and Commissioner John Wallace seconded. Lance Adams of SRM Concrete spoke to commissioners about the company’s history and plans for the site before the vote. The record shows a 9–0 voice vote in favor and the commission forwarded the plan to the Hamblen County Planning Commission for its review.
