Committee schedules public hearings for Spreckels and Washington Union territory petition

Committee staff reviewed correspondence from the State Board of Education notifying local officials that the Greenfield reorganization petition will not be agendized before November 2025 and noted that the state is unlikely to grant additional continuances. The committee also said it has contracted a feasibility study and will present findings to the committee before making a final decision. Staff emphasized the importance of holding local public hearings and of making feasibility and fiscal impacts transparent to affected communities before any county-level decision is reached.
