The village authorized the purchase of a 2026 Pierce Sabre pumper from McQueen Equipment LLC for an amount not to exceed $1,100,000. Trustee Santucci told the board the recommended engine replaces Engine 808, a 2000 Pierce Quantum that has exceeded the National Fire Protection Association replacement guidance (25 years). "The total cost of the truck is $1,002,000," the presenter said, and staff noted additional funds will be needed for graphics, radios and equipment not included in the base contract.
Staff also explained the purchase is available via Sourcewell cooperative purchasing, allowing the village to take advantage of a competitively procured price and waive separate bidding. The board voted by roll call to waive competitive bidding and authorize the purchase; resolution 26-R-12 was approved.
