District reports Erin’s Law completion, plans grade-6 transition program and notes testing gains

Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Rylott told the Board that School Psychologist Danielle Spears has completed Erin’s Law lessons with students in grades K–8. Rylott said she and Ms. Spears will develop a transition program for grade 6 focusing on time management, planners and proactive teacher check-ins to support students moving from elementary to secondary school.
Rylott also reported New York State will adopt the WIDA World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment framework for English language learners, replacing the NYSITELL for identification and NYSESLAT for proficiency testing.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Doelger summarized operational items — safety routines, technology and security reviews, administrative check-ins and parent-teacher conferences — and told the Board that the district’s New York State testing results, released earlier the same day, show continued upward trajectory in achievement and year-over-year growth.
Why it matters: The reports relate to student safety, supports for transitional grades and ELL assessment changes that will affect instruction and identification processes in the coming school year.
