Board advances dress-code revisions, schedules public hearing for Jan. 12

Superintendent Dr. Brian Doelger presented compiled feedback from students (grades 5–12), faculty and staff, and board members. The proposed code would apply during school hours and at school-sponsored events; special provisions were discussed for events such as Prom. Doelger described an anonymous reporting system that would allow adults in the building to report dress-code violations to administrators, who would then follow up with students.
Board members debated whether hats should be allowed. Dawn Hedberg advocated a clear, building-wide policy on hats; Anthony J. Rando argued for a no-hat rule to signal readiness for learning; Molly Kendall and Karina Montalvo said hats can provide comfort for some students and favored allowing hats. The Board aims to finalize the revised dress code for a public hearing on Jan. 12, 2026.
