Board approves coaching appointment, teacher medical leave and mentor stipend

The Board of Education approved several personnel recommendations from the superintendent during its Feb. 9 meeting.
Members rescinded a July 14, 2025 appointment for junior-high baseball coach and appointed Christopher Conrardy to that role for the 2025–26 school year at a stipend of $3,036.85. The board also approved a medical leave of absence for Special Education teacher Janine Mahoney beginning March 25, 2026 through on or about April 22, 2026; the period will be credited toward Mahoney’s FMLA leave. Finally, the board approved Michelle Weir as a Teacher Mentor for the 2025–26 school year at $1,500, prorated to the January 15–June 30 period per the Shelter Island Faculty Association contract.
All personnel motions carried unanimously.
