The Shelter Island Union Free School District Board of Education unanimously approved routine minutes and a package of consent items at its Nov. 10 regular meeting, including personnel appointments, program items and financial actions. The board voted to authorize Tax Anticipation Notes of up to $400,000 for the 2025–26 fiscal year to be issued under the Local Finance Law.
Among personnel actions the board rescinded a prior appointment and approved new coaching and substitute staffing: the rescission of Erin Baskin's earlier JV girls basketball appointment, the appointment of Shannon Bogaski as an additional JV girls basketball coach at a stipend of $6,077.57, and approval of Jaxson Rylott as an additional substitute aide at $110 per day (pending fingerprint clearance). The board also accepted the superintendent's corrective action plan responding to the external audit and approved budget transfers and journal entries for Oct. 7–Nov. 3, 2025. Motions carried unanimously on all items.
The board approved two transportation contracts: an intermunicipal agreement with East Hampton UFSD for $12,775 (Oct. 27, 2025–June 30, 2026) and a Hampton Jitney contract for transportation to the Grades 9–12 New York City field trip on April 21, 2026 in the amount of $5,114.00. Parent Rachel Medina later asked whether the trip would proceed; Superintendent Brian Doelger confirmed the trip will take place and that the approved contract covers transportation.
