The Board of Education approved a planned Class of 2026 senior trip to Virginia Beach, Va., scheduled for March 12–16, 2026. Class co-advisor Alyssa Prior presented a sample itinerary and said the cost is approximately $900 per student; the class has substantial funds and will continue fundraising to offset costs.
Ms. Prior said all 18 seniors are interested in attending and that chaperones to date include Peter Miedema and Mary Kanarvogel; the class will seek two additional chaperones. The motion to approve the trip was made by Karina Montalvo, seconded by Dawn Hedberg, and carried unanimously.
The decision authorizes district staff to proceed with trip logistics, conditional on continued fundraising and required chaperone staffing.
