Superintendent cites summer safety upgrades and new cell‑phone policy for secondary students

Superintendent Dr. Brian Doelger told the board that multiple safety upgrades were completed this summer, including installation of blue warning lights, a new visitor check‑in system, additional panic buttons and camera upgrades. He said the district is "way ahead of the curve regarding safety" and that New York State Education Department representatives were "blown away by our procedures" during a recent internet and technical safety audit.
Doelger also said a new cell‑phone policy for secondary students will be communicated during first‑period classes on the first day of school. He described new workplace violence and sexual‑harassment training videos that staff will take on their first day and thanked staff who worked over the summer to prepare for the year.
