Board Member Dawn Hedberg said she was concerned some parents "may not fully understand that this new policy is a New York State Law" and asked the Superintendent to spread the word on social media. Dr. Brian Doelger responded that "a letter will be going home to parents and it will also be posted on Facebook and Instagram." The Board agreed that clear parent notification is a priority as the policy is implemented.
Hedberg also requested that alternatives—such as games, paper, crayons and pencils—be made available so students who opt out of certain activities or device-free physical play have structured options. Dr. Doelger agreed with the suggestion. The Board announced the next regular meeting for Aug. 25, 2025; the Superintendent’s office will coordinate communications to families ahead of that date.
