Shelter Island schools report roughly 180 students and small Title II/III grants for 2025–26

Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Rylott told the board that the master schedule is finalized and that teachers and students have their schedules. She reported current enrollment at approximately 180 students and noted last year’s BEDS day count was 183, which included Pre‑K3 students. Rylott said the district received Title II (professional development) and Title III (English Language Learner) grants this school year and stated that "the total amount for these grants combined is approximately $3,000." New Staff Orientation and 6th Grade Orientation were scheduled for the week ahead.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Doelger and staff thanked summer employees and teachers for preparation work and encouraged community attendance at upcoming events, including a Vigil of Hope and a PTSA Back to School BBQ on Sept. 12.
