Town approves summer commercial licenses for Crescent Beach and watersports operators

On March 16 the Shelter Island Town Board approved a cluster of commercial use licenses for the 2026 summer season covering beach vendors, massage and wellness vendors, food trucks, and watersports operators. Approvals included Ride Shore LLC (ship-to-shore launch at Crescent Beach; application fee to total $500, 10'x10' tent, May 15–Sept 30), Bon Spa (therapeutic massage at Crescent Beach; operating May 15–Sept 14), Between the Forks LLC d/b/a The Islander (food truck east of the gazebo; generator under 65 dB at 25 feet; May 23–Sept 7), Mehmet Cevher d/b/a Mister Softee (ice cream truck with specified parking and sound limits; May 1–Sept 20), Kayak Shelter Island LLC (rentals and tours at Burns Road; May 1–Nov 30), Venture Out (rentals and lessons with defined 400 sq ft footprint; May 1–Nov 30), and Cara Moorcroft (mat Pilates at Wades Beach with limited hours on Saturdays and Wednesdays). Each approval included conditions such as proof of insurance, limits on tent size and hours, daily removal of equipment, and town review of location by Police or Highway departments.

Board members recorded votes adopting those licenses as part of the consent agenda. Several resolutions specify operational conditions designed to protect beach access and public safety: food-truck permits require adherence to Vehicle & Traffic Law Section 1225(b); one food-truck resolution limits amplified generator noise to under 65 dB at 25 feet; multiple licenses prohibit coning off parking spaces and require separate trash disposal from town receptacles. The Supervisor is authorized to sign the required Commercial Use Licenses on behalf of the Town.
