Seward reauthorizes engineers to pursue community center and barn grants

During the June 8 public hearing, Brendon Becker of Lamont Engineers described two additional grant prospects: up to $1,000,000 in CDBG funds to upgrade the community center and up to $50,000 to study and design bank stabilization for Cobleskill Creek along Patrick Road. The board left the public hearing open for comment and later authorized Lamont Engineers to work on the grants and to reapply for the sewer system upgrades.
A member of the public, Joanne Wilms, asked whether the grant for the barn at State Route 10 and Lowe Road was related to a municipal building purchase; Councilwoman Wendy Adams Rosa clarified the grant is to fund electrical, lighting and general upgrades to the barn. The board voted to proceed with engineering work on those upgrades.
