St. Stephen treasurer reports $2.06 million per bank; council readies August budget meeting

The St. Stephen City Council on June 4 received the city treasurer's financial report showing a beginning balance of $2,030,960.53, receipts of $36,862.47 and disbursements of $25,586.19, leaving an ending balance of $2,042,236.81 and a bank-statement total of $2,059,813.11.
Treasurer Kurt Niemeyer said he will attempt to have preliminary budget numbers ready for the July meeting because the formal budget meeting is scheduled for August. He also noted the IRS has asked for an additional 60 days to complete its review and asked the council whether there were expected future monopole bills so he can prepare a bill for Verizon. The council approved the treasurer's report by motion (mover: Gene Skaj; second: Danita Traut).
