At the July 14 meeting Chief Bunderson summarized recent departmental activity and grants: the police department received a Mobilization Grant of just under $10,000 to purchase e‑ticket software for patrol vehicles and an ISBI grant of $28,360 to acquire a digital fingerprint setup that will be included in the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget. The chief also reported operational calls since the holiday, including two house fires, a DUI, a warrant service, and a meth‑related call, and noted temporary AT&T tower outages affected service that evening.
Councilmembers and the mayor praised staff and volunteers for recent community events. Craig Eckles and the mayor highlighted America 250 and KGND as successful events with strong turnout; Mayor Burke Davidson thanked staff and an anonymous donor who funded food. Chief Bunderson said the department will continue ink prints while adding the digital system once installed.
