Kimberly splits $3,500 in community grants between local food programs

The City Council on July 14 approved awarding $1,750 to Rock Creek Food Pantry and $1,750 to East End Providers after reviewing compliant grant applications under Resolution No. 385. Councilmembers said they wanted to support both organizations and split the available funds evenly.
Theresa Houser, speaking for Rock Creek Food Pantry, said the pantry “had served 250” people and described the pantry as a choice pantry serving many seniors. Cecille Griffith, representing East End Providers, said the organization was able to serve “969 kids this last year” and outlined additional services such as blankets, food boxes, and holiday support. Councilmembers thanked both groups for their community work and encouraged volunteering.
Motions to award each organization passed on separate roll calls: Rock Creek Food Pantry ($1,750) and East End Providers ($1,750). Council indicated final action would be recorded in the grants ledger and that funds would be disbursed per city procedures.
