Trustees approve design options for Walton Field, KES classroom and CTE building

Board President Lee Lentz-Edwards and district staff led updates on bond projects and the board approved several design directions Aug. 29. Dr. Rodney Schneider and Todd Lewis of Gallagher & Associates briefed trustees on options for Walton Field; after discussion Lentz-Edwards asked for agreement on Option 1A and moved to approve it after members indicated consensus.
Representatives from Parkhill Architects, R.J. Lopez and Ashlee Horsley, presented the KES classroom addition options. Trustee Miguel Urquidi moved to approve Option 1A for the classroom addition; the board approved the motion unanimously. Trustees also approved repurposing the old welding shop and, by motion of Trustee Aaron Hardaway and second by Trustee Ramiro Antillon, approved Option 2A to attach the CTE building to the current high school. These approvals provide design direction to the district's architects and contractors.
