"The anticipation was that the engineering would be completed mid to late summer... We anticipate it open the splash pad in I'm just gonna say Mother's Day of 2028. The pool would open Father's Day 2028," staff said.
Residents who had served on the pool committee and contractors’ estimates provided cost context. Mike Holmes, who was on the committee, said the scope expanded during planning: "So the project went from maybe around 1000000 dollar, rehab to over $3,000,000, total project." Staff said the project is structured as an 80/20 grant split from New York State, with the state's share covering roughly 80% of eligible costs and the city's share estimated at about $600,000 to be financed over 15–20 years using retiring debt service so as not to drive an immediate tax increase.
