Commissioners debate moving replacement pool to CAC site to keep pool open during construction

"I think we'd be foolish at this point if we didn't consider doing something over by the CAC," the commissioner said, noting the CAC already has parking, a snack bar and bathrooms. The resident who spoke during public comment echoed that view: "You already have the CAC, why do you need a pool house? You already have bathrooms, you got lockers, you got a concession stand."
City staff cautioned that moving sites could raise costs. The city official said a new pool house alone might cost several hundred thousand dollars and that the SWIMS grant application and its grant disbursement agreement may have specified the project site. Staff agreed to ask the grant agency whether changing the site would be permitted under the award and to report back.
The commission did not make a decision on location; members asked staff to pursue cost estimates and confirm whether the grant allows a site change before scheduling further action.
