GRANTON, Wis. — Several staff members and area residents used the public comment portion of the Nov. 16 joint meeting between Granton and Loyal to press for more information and safeguards if whole‑grade sharing moves forward.
One staff member with ties to both districts said working together highlights "strong and great things that both Districts have going on," and urged leaders to consider those strengths when negotiating terms. Other speakers asked whether any arrangement could be reciprocal rather than one‑sided, whether missing the near‑term timeline would put consideration off until the following school year, and whether the ongoing feasibility study with Greenwood and Loyal could be adjusted to account for additional students from potential sharing.
Speakers also raised concerns about past co‑op arrangements, saying Granton had sometimes come up short in earlier collaborations. Board members heard multiple requests that the Granton board consider feedback from Loyal and Greenwood before making any final decisions. The public comments did not result in formal board action at the Nov. 16 meeting.
