Commission authorizes staff to proceed on state DASNY swim-school grant and to have mayor sign required paperwork
Summary
City staff asked the commission to authorize next-step grant paperwork for a New York State/DASNY swim-school grant and to authorize the mayor to sign the municipal grantee questionnaire and local-match commitments; staff emphasized this step does not itself direct state spending.

City staff described the request as an administrative step to allow the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), the grant administrator, to process the city's application and documentation. The staff member explained the commission would be asked to sign a municipal grantee questionnaire addressing public purpose, conflict-of-interest, due diligence and local-match commitments. "So what this is, just to be clear, this is not, authorizing the state to spend any money. This is just a step in the process so that DASNY, who is the administrator of the grant, knows that we are moving forward," the staff member said.
Staff asked the commission to authorize the mayor to sign the paperwork and to pass a resolution accepting the grant award and local-match responsibilities. A commissioner offered to read the draft resolution aloud; staff said the city had 30 days after notification to make the formal commitment. The transcript records commissioners agreeing to move forward; the formal resolution language was to be finalized by the city's attorney/clerk (Renee).
