The Fiscal Court approved Spencer County's agreement to participate in the Kentucky Waste Tire Management Program for 2026, with the county agreeing to a three‑day scheduled event (anticipated Sept. 24–26, 2026) and associated planning tasks. Under the agreement, Spencer County must designate a project coordinator by August 3, provide a minimum of three staff on event days to unload tires and one staff member to greet participants, and identify any large accumulations of tires in the county for potential special staging.
The minutes include the agreement text and the county's obligations and state obligations. The cabinet (Energy & Environmental Cabinet / Division of Waste Management) will select a contractor to load, transport and recycle tires deposited during the event and will report weights at certified scales. The county must complete planning tasks and return the signed agreement to the cabinet by August 5, 2026; the project must be completed no later than November 2, 2026.
