WCIDA director reports new businesses, railroad meeting and development topics; staff to review BES permitting

Executive Director Brian Pincelli briefed the board on local business openings and development issues, and flagged battery energy storage and data center development as topics under review.
Pincelli noted that Drumlins Brewing is set to open soon in Palmyra and provided an update on the Ontario Midland Railroad annual meeting. He identified anticipated Data Center development and battery energy storage (BES) as items staff will monitor. Pincelli said he is reviewing BES local permitting and code to provide guidance to towns for consistent review processes.
Board members asked questions about traffic impacts for the NY Sugar project in Ontario; Pincelli said he expects some traffic increases on Route 104 but that use of rail will divert a significant portion, and that NYSDOT reviewed and approved the project traffic impacts. No motions or approvals were requested on these informational items.
