IT director outlines nursing home switch replacements and county cybersecurity assessment

Matt Ury, Wayne County’s Information Technology director, told the Finance Committee on May 12 that the department will perform switch replacements at the Wayne County Nursing Home over the coming weekend as part of an ARPA-funded project. He said the department is also enrolling in a new cybersecurity risk assessment program that will place representatives on-site to conduct testing of the county’s cybersecurity infrastructure and controls.
Ury said the department’s capital-plan submission contained no major new initiatives and instead focused on maintaining existing equipment and completing smaller upgrades next year. The committee approved two IT transmittals presented by Ury: authorization to accept the bid for security cameras and authorization to purchase Microsoft SharePoint for a three-year term; both were approved unanimously, 5-0.
The committee did not debate the financing source in detail during the meeting; budget and funding were described as part of routine capital maintenance in Ury’s report. The next committee meeting is scheduled for June 9, 2026.
