Board approves ECIA contract to support zoning administrator during transition

The board approved a one-year technical-assistance contract with the East Central Intergovernmental Association (ECIA) to support the zoning office while the county transitions its zoning administrator role. Becca described the contract as an investment that will provide seasoned ordinance planners to assist the county while the zoning administrator remains the public point of contact.

Board members noted the contract is budgeted up to $30,000, with ECIA covering $15,000 of that amount; one supervisor said the arrangement avoids the costs and benefits associated with hiring a full-time employee while ensuring access to experienced planners. "This will give direct support from a seasoned zoning ordinance planners and zoning planners while still being, the zoning administrator will still be the point of contact for the public," Becca said. The board moved to approve the contract and the motion carried by voice vote.
