Superintendent Mark Branko summarized a slate of facilities projects completed or underway over the summer across Rockport Public Schools.
He told the committee the roof project is moving and that the Nacella Paving Company repaved an area formerly described as the "dirt lot," creating more usable parking. Branko said the wellness center portable and attached greenhouse were removed for structural reasons and the district plans to rebuild or repurpose greenhouse functions in a new design.
The district is relocating the middle–high school art kiln into a dedicated classroom to support an expanding ceramics program and to create safer drying and staging space for equipment. Branko said campus exterior lighting work is underway to improve safety at night, and the elementary school will receive a double-vestibule locking system for controlled entry; he said the vestibule doors have been reordered and installation is expected in September.
"So next to the RES parking lot up top, we finally had a nice paved section," Branko said, and later thanked DPW staff and custodial crews for summer work. Committee members acknowledged the progress and asked about timing and access; Branko said most items are on track for the start of the school year or shortly thereafter.
