The Rockport School Committee voted to adopt committee goals for the 2025–26 school year that refocus the committee's priorities under the title "community connections and advocacy."
Chair Amy Oakes outlined four specific actions: continue publishing the "In the Loop" newsletter (targeting three issues this year); schedule a midyear professional-development retreat on active listening; commit to 4–5 community outreach visits across the year with the superintendent; and engage Rockport town committees on behalf of schools and report back as appropriate. The chair said the emphasis is on active listening so the committee does not simply push information out but hears what the community needs.
Committee members discussed alignment between this committee goal and district goals; a motion to adopt the committee goals was made, seconded and approved with verbal "Aye" responses.
