The Rockport School Committee on April 16 accepted the superintendent's summative evaluation after reviewing goal‑based evidence and committee comments across standards including instructional leadership, management and operations, family engagement and professional culture. Chair Kathy Riley read the committee's written comments and the final summative statement that "Doctor Branca's leadership this year meets an exemplary rating."
The evaluation covered four primary goals and supporting standards; Riley read representative comments noting progress on the district improvement strategy (SDI), successful contract negotiations and the integration of an instructional coach. A motion to accept the summative evaluation report was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee then approved a separate motion authorizing the chair to meet with Superintendent Branca to negotiate potential amendments to his contract.
Superintendent Branca thanked the committee for the evaluation and said he appreciated the feedback and the work of the leadership team. The votes were recorded as passed by the committee without objection in the meeting transcript.
