The chair reported guidance from the state that the mayor and county judge serve as floodplain coordinators if the county lacks a designated coordinator and proposed appointing local staff to serve in acting administrative roles to maintain continuity. "I did send an email to the city and, what I'm proposing and the city agreed with what I'm proposing, that we appoint Ashley Welch and Angie Helton... as acting floodplain coordinators," the chair said, noting both would have the authority to sign plans.
The appointments were presented as temporary measures to allow plan approvals and customer service to continue without interruption while the county pursues a formal administrator appointment in conjunction with the city. The court indicated both staff members were willing to serve in acting roles and that further formal appointment steps would follow.
