County says MED-3 ambulance will get a new engine under Ford warranty; loaner truck arranged

Staff reported that MED-3, a 2022 gasoline ambulance with roughly 88,000 miles, experienced repeated misfiring and failed a cylinder pressure test. The vendor and dealer are working with Ford on warranty coverage; staff said the engine will likely be replaced and that Ford covers commercial fleet vehicles up to 100,000 miles. "So it's gonna be a new engine... Ford covers it up to a 100,000 miles," the staff member said.
The ambulance is at O'Brien Ford for warranty paperwork; the county also arranged a short-term loaner from Bullitt County and has agreements to borrow other trucks if multiple units experience downtime. Staff warned that the gasoline ambulances may not achieve the same longevity as diesel units and said the newly acquired vehicle will be inspected and decaled before entering service in a few weeks.
