At the March 2 meeting Julie (planning staff) presented two first readings on land‑use items.
The first was an application by Little Mount Baptist Church to rezone two tracts (1.132 acres and 1.285 acres) from agricultural to R‑1 residential; Julie said the recommended land‑use map in the comprehensive plan shows mixed use and that the rezoning would bring the parcels into compliance with the plan. Commissioner Osborne moved to recommend approval and Commissioner Stevens seconded; the motion carried with Commissioner Hardin sustaining on the roll call. Julie and other attendees described neighbors’ concerns about the parking lot being a separate parcel and pedestrian access from the parking parcel to the church.
The second first reading was an application filed by Paula Weasley on behalf of Dale and Starla Rogers seeking to rezone two tracts totaling approximately 13.507 acres from Ag‑1 to Ag‑2 at 3655 Little Mount Road. Julie said there were no speakers in opposition to that application and the planning body recommended approval; the roll call carried the motion.
Commissioners asked staff to ensure minutes capture specific public concerns raised (parking access and lot configuration) and to provide further details in subsequent materials and hearings.
