Parks director Brendan Kane told the council the city won a $465,000 grant for the Helle Bush Park phase‑1 work and estimated total project costs at $548,000. He said: “The city was awarded a grant in the amount of $465,000. And then the, total project cost is estimated at 548,000. So the city would be responsible for the, the difference there, which is around $80,000. Some of that a majority of that would be in kind work” (Brendan Kane, S16). Council approved the ordinance authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute a contract for $360,766 by an 8–0 roll-call vote.
Council also approved a $24,575 contract for lake dredging; Kane said the contractor will remove material by vessel and identified specific areas needing dredging so the lake will not need to be drained. The council's approval allows staff to execute the contracts and proceed with phase‑one work.
