Rio Vista proclaims Constitution Week; DAR chapter to display proclamation

Vice Mayor Edwin Okamura read a proclamation at the Sept. 17 council meeting declaring Sept. 17–23, 2024 as Constitution Week in Rio Vista and presented it to the Chief Seldon chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nanette Shamia, the chapter’s chaplain and Constitution Week co-chair, described DAR’s national history and local activities in support of patriotism, historical preservation and education.
Shamia outlined DAR community work — including scholarship support, veterans’ recognition and naturalization-ceremony participation — and thanked council members for the proclamation, which the chapter plans to display at an upcoming meeting. Council members thanked DAR volunteers for community service.
