Town Board introduces amendment to ethics-board qualifications; public hearing set for March 10

The Town Board introduced a proposed local law on Feb. 24, 2025 to amend Section 13-4 of the Town Code (Board of Ethics). The proposal limits consecutive service on the Ethics Board to two full three-year terms and restricts party enrollment to no more than two board members. The introduction was offered by Supervisor Corcoran and seconded by Councilman Molinelli and was adopted for introduction with a recorded unanimous vote.
The Town Board set a public hearing for March 10, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall and directed that the notice be published at least five days before the hearing. Copies of the proposed law will be available at the Town Clerks office during business hours for public review.
The resolution text also notes that if any provision is held unconstitutional or invalid, the remainder of the law will not be affected. The vote on the introduction recorded Supervisor Corcoran Yes; Councilman Molinelli Yes; Councilman Cauchi Yes; Councilman Zambito Yes; Councilwoman Sessa Yes.
