The Town of Marlborough Board voted to schedule a public hearing on Feb. 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to consider extending the town’s water district to include parcels owned by Marlborough Resort LLC. The board adopted the order as presented and directed the Town Clerk to publish and post the required notice.
The Map, Plan and Report accompanying the petition estimates the "total estimated annual charge against the Property for usage is $263,632.20," and notes that the maximum amount to be expended by the Water District is $0.00 because construction costs are to be borne by the petitioner. Supervisor Corcoran told the board the proposed project currently lies about 20% inside the existing district and said he had negotiated with the project's principal owner a payment of $600,000 into the water district over a three-year period; he also described limits on water available from Newburgh.
The hearing gives residents an opportunity to review the Map, Plan and Report and to comment on the proposed district extension. The board will accept public input at the Feb. 10 meeting before deciding whether to proceed with the extension.
