Springdale awards $1.36 million contract to Interstate Rock for River Park expansion

Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Gubler told the council that three bids were received and that State and county grants helped fund the project. "Interstate Rock's bid was $1,355,775.80," he said, and staff noted the contract language and a typographical correction in the staff report. The contract’s original commencement date was amended to April 30, 2026 during the meeting.
Mr. Gubler outlined phase 1 funding sources: $684,000 from Washington County, $200,000 from Utah Outdoor Recreation, and $70,000 from general funds; roughly $400,000 is expected from RAP tax, fees and related local resources. Staff also mentioned an approximately $12,000 contingency to cover minor unexpected costs.
Jack Burns moved to approve the contract between the Town of Springdale and Interstate Rock Products in the amount of $1,355,775.80 for construction services for the George A. Barker River Park expansion project; the council approved it unanimously. Council members emphasized keeping the park as accessible as possible during construction and prioritizing safety.
