Kincaid officials say rain stalled spillway repairs; village weighing contractor or rental options

Mayor Tony Pezze told trustees that crews could not complete the west-side spillway work because recent rains kept water levels high; the village is awaiting lower flows before resuming work. He said the village had two options: hire contractor B&R for excavation or rent a long-reach excavator ("hi ho") for roughly $3,000–$3,500 for a week and buy rock and matting for the repair.
"We would have had the west side done if the rain would have held off for three more days. Now we are at a standstill, waiting for the water to go down to a trickle before we can do anything," Pezze said. The mayor also said the Department of Natural Resources (the agency that licenses dams) has offered to work with the village on the repairs. Trustees did not set a firm schedule; Pezze said he has requested estimates from B&R and will follow up when water levels permit.
