Central Hudson to replace nearly 2 miles of gas main; town warned of park schedule impacts

Supervisor Corcoran told the board that Central Hudson will undertake a major gas line replacement in Marlborough, approximately 1.99 miles of new 10-inch main running along Route 9W, Milton Turnpike and across Central Hudson property through Young's Park. He warned the project could disrupt Little League and softball schedules at Young's Field while the utility work proceeds.
Board members discussed mitigation options. Councilwoman Sessa suggested preparing and using upper fields at the Town Park, adding a larger backstop and some fencing to accommodate displaced games; Corcoran said he would speak with Central Hudson about additional lighting for the park. The board did not take a formal vote on mitigation at the meeting.
