Kincaid board approves $16,717 contract to begin dam repairs

The Village of Kincaid approved a $16,717 contract June 15 to advance dam repairs, a step Mayor Tony Pezze said would address immediate maintenance needs and demonstrate progress to state regulators.
Pezze asked the board to authorize work to remove brush from the dam’s east end and to complete related site work; he said slab-jackers are scheduled to be on site June 24–26 but that continued rain could delay the contractor. “The repair for the dam, I would like approval for this at $16,717,” Pezze told trustees. Trustee Dees moved to approve the contract; Oller seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Pezze said prior DNR comments suggested the village must show year-to-year improvements to avoid license action. “If we maintain and do like we say they will be happy,” Pezze said, adding that the current work would not complete all patching but would allow the village crew to address joints and sealing later.
The board approved the contract by unanimous vote and directed staff to begin the work as weather and contractor scheduling allow.
