The certification is a prerequisite for the district to submit requisitions or disbursements of IMA funds to the Texas Education Agency, according to the agenda materials presented at the meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil had highlighted district instructional priorities in her opening remarks; board members said they wanted to ensure timely access to approved materials before the 2025–26 school year begins. The board did not attach additional conditions to the certification.
Next steps: the district will file the certification with the Texas Education Agency and may proceed with requisitions for materials aligned to TEKS. No dollar amounts related to specific upcoming purchases were disclosed at the meeting.
