Center Cass SD 66’s Director of Technology briefed the board March 12 on a cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, reporting that an offline backup containing up to 12 years of student and staff data had been accessed in the breach though the district’s live data were not part of the incident.
The director said the district has communicated with parents and reassured them that the district does not store Social Security numbers in its PowerSchool database. As part of longer-term mitigation, the technology department plans to install an Illinois Century Network connection this summer to improve security and Internet reliability.
