Nearly 130 students enrolled in targeted summer program; district reports strong SEL benchmarking

Director of Student Services Dr. Sean Rhoads told the board that nearly 130 students are participating in Elizabeth Ide Elementary's targeted summer school program focused on reading, math and social-emotional learning.
Rhoads said the program uses a team of teachers, substitutes and transportation staff to provide instruction and supports and described a positive, inclusive environment intended to boost student confidence for the upcoming year. He also reported final SEL benchmarking for 2024–25 showed continued growth across all three schools, with many measures in the 80th–99th national percentiles.
The district is finalizing expenditure reports for the current grant cycle and preparing applications for ESSA, IDEA and PFA funds for 2025–26; those applications are due June 30 and will, if approved, fund staff, professional development and targeted student interventions aligned with the district's MTSS framework.
