District finalizes E-Rate contracts, projects $54,000 savings and network upgrades

District Technology Director Keith Roberts reported completion of new E-Rate contracts that are expected to save the district an estimated $54,000 in the coming fiscal year while increasing internet and wide-area-network capacity by approximately four times. Roberts said the district will join the Illinois Century Network through a Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) grant, which provides a free internet connection that will support an upcoming voice-over-IP (VOIP) initiative.
Roberts also said the district pre-ordered Chromebooks for the next school year to mitigate potential tariff and supply-chain risks and to avoid unexpected cost increases. Upgrades to the Lakeview library (mounted TVs, sound system, acoustic work) were also reported as completed improvements that will support instruction and meetings.
