Highway commissioner reports storm-related truck breakdowns, salt inventory and $7,626 surplus sale

Highway Commissioner Walter reported to the board that the township experienced equipment problems during the last snowstorm, including a failed spinner motor and a hydraulic cylinder leak, and that crews repaired ditches damaged by plowing on roads including Neilson Court, Ryan Road and Norma Lane.
Walter said the township took in another 117 tons of salt and "we only need another 23 ton to fill the salt contract for the 25-26 snow season." He also reported using cold patch between storms to fill potholes and that the township sold old chemicals and truck #2 on Wisconsin Surplus for $7,626. Commissioners also brought ditch-mowing tractors out of storage and performed maintenance to prepare for mowing season; staff are negotiating with vendors Falcon and MDC to reduce the township garbage bill.
