Board approves first readings of multiple ISBA policy updates including transportation and student-records changes

At its May 21 meeting the Snake River School Board approved first readings of a broad set of policy updates provided by the Idaho School Boards Association (ISBA). Updates included changes to policy and procedure for student records (Policy 3570P), permissions to use likeness, volunteer confidentiality, a suite of transportation policies (Policies 8100, 8115, 8120, 8140, 8160, 8170, 8180, 8190, 8195), evaluation of school bus drivers (5825), and miscellaneous procurement standards (7400). The board also approved the deletion of Policy 3430 to eliminate redundancy.
The transportation-related updates add required language about reimbursement for daycare transportation, driver hours and documentation for certain long trips, bus-stop selection, pre- and post-trip inspections, evacuation drills, and required training elements. The minutes note the board accepted superintendent-recommended edits and approved the first readings unanimously.
