Audit selection committee opens three proposals, schedules July 18 ranking meeting

The Auditor Selection Committee opened three proposals submitted in response to an RFP for a three-year municipal audit engagement and recorded the respondents and their stated fees on the record.
“Basically, today’s meeting…we put out an RFP. It’s for a 3 year contract for auditing,” a staff member said, explaining the session’s limited purpose was to open proposals and schedule a follow-up to evaluate them. Councilman Jimmy Anderson announced the respondents as James Moore; Malden and Jenkins; and Milan and Smith LLP.
Committee members agreed to reconvene at 5:00 p.m. on July 18, before the council’s 6:30 p.m. meeting, to compare the proposals, ask follow-up questions and rank the firms. The staff member said the committee would then refer its ranking to the council, which will make the final appointment.
No final selection or vote was taken at the July 30 meeting. The committee posted the respondents and will review the full proposal documents, including any escalation clauses or additional charges, at the July 18 session.
