County moves forward with Plasma Blue and LCCMR idea brief to study plasma-based PFAS treatment in landfill leachate

Kyle Pillatzki told the board he had been approached by Plasma Blue about partnering on a Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) grant proposal aimed at reducing the cost of destroying PFAS in landfill leachate. Pillatzki also said the county submitted an Idea Brief to the University of Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnership to explore a university-led evaluation of plasma-based PFAS treatment technology.
Pillatzki asked whether the board was interested in participating in either the Plasma Blue partnership or the LCCMR grant; the board gave consensus to move forward with Plasma Blue and the LCCMR grant effort. The decision was a consensus direction to pursue grant and study avenues rather than an appropriation or contract award at this meeting.
