After reconvening at the Public Works Department, Interim County Engineer Stephen Schnieder presented an overview of potential improvements to railroad crossings in Lakeside and Mountain Lake Townships and answered questions from township officials. Schnieder outlined options and fielded technical and procedural questions from local officials.
Township officials will discuss the matter at their annual township meetings and must notify the Public Works Department by March 12, 2026 if they wish to seek crossing improvements. The board recessed and adjourned after the presentation; no formal county funding decision was recorded at the Feb. 17 meeting.
